                                           10 Essentials: J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons :

 1. Philip Crangi rings
“Phillip made a signet ring for me of my family crest. I’d never seen a signet ring in rose gold before. When he finished it by hand it got burnished and darker in spots, so even when it’s polished, the patina makes it appear incredibly old. I have a bunch of tiny ones that I wear alongside of it, too, and a nervous habit of twirling them around. I like the idea of having something that feels very personal and close to me—they’re my security blanket at age 45.”
 2. Moscot Mensch glasses
“These became my go-to glasses about a year ago. I had reading glasses, and I would be walking in the office on my phone, and then would get dizzy looking up. The woman at the Moscot store suggested I get bifocals, it somehow became a signature, completely unintentionally.”

 3. NARS lip pencil
“I keep one in my purse. I can put it on without a mirror, and this is probably the only lip pencil that goes on matte yet isn’t chalky and dry. Which isn’t the most interesting thing for boys to read, but it’s important—they can tell their girlfriends about it.”

 4. Manrepeller on Istagram
“She’s adorable and has incredible style. I like seeing her life because it’s very different than mine, and her style is encompassing of her personality: a little bit offbeat, but warm and nondiscriminatory. And her handle is kind of genius.”

5. Uber
“You have to get places, and Uber is the best. It’s saved me so many times in rain and odd locations. I’ve been using it for about a year, and it’s never failed me.”

6. Nike Air Force 1’s
“I wasn’t much of a sneakerhead, but after having a little boy, it’s become a shared passion of ours. This past fashion week, it was snowing like crazy and I ended up wearing high tops quite a bit, thinking I could hide in these in a giant Joseph Altuzarra coat, but those pictures became very popular, which is sort of funny. I love these because I don’t have to untie them—that’s important in the last-minute dash.”

7. Bespoke white shirt
“I wear white shirts about six days a week. I’m a strange shape—I’m very tall and my arms are incredibly long—so I have all my shirts made custom. I have them made at Ascot Chang, and sometimes I’ll pull a fabric from J.Crew so I can wear the fabric we’re running, but in a sample that fits me. It’s sort of a secret ritual for me—I go by myself and spend an hour getting my shirts done.”

8. Depeche Mode
“You know how you grow tired of things and you cycle them in and out? Depeche Mode somehow never cycles out for me. There’s something about his lilting voice; it’s always felt relevant. I saw them live when I was 17 and haven’t seen them since, but I’m going to their show at Barclays Center tonight, and my inner teenager might come out.”

9. Chimala camo jacket
“Chimala is made by a woman in Japan who finishes everything by hand. Her attention to detail is amazing, as well as the details she leaves off—she has an incredible amount of restraint, which I respect. She started making outerwear recently; this piece looks vintage, but it doesn’t smell, actually fits, and doesn’t have any holes in it. It’s going to end up in heavy rotation.”

10. Sakura Jelly Roll pens
“ I always have a pen in my purse, and I’m obsessed with the Jelly Roll. I feel like it’s the only pen that will consistently write on anything. I also love the way they feel in your hand—they’re super-soft.”
